The Continuous Piezocone Penetration Tests (CPPT), also known as cone penetration or cone penetrometer test (CPT), is a method used to evaluate the geotechnical engineering properties of soils (e.g. bearing capacity) and delineate soil stratigraphy. An electric cone capable of measuring the resistance, sleeve friction and pore pressure simultaneously will be pushed into the ground by mechanical means at a steady rate to investigate the subsoil properties when conducting the test.
Drilling will be carried out using a heave compensated rotary power swivel system mounted on the mono-mast offshore drilling tower fixed at the side edge of the barge. For drilling on a self-elevating jack-up platform, a conventional hydraulic feed rotary drilling rig positioned on the deck of the platform will be utilized.
